Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION POLICY

1. Cancellation by the Policyholder

The Policyholder may request cancellation of this Insurance Policy by providing written notice to the Insurer through an approved communication channel.

The cancellation request should include the Policyholder’s name, policy number, requested cancellation date, and any other information reasonably required to process the request.

Cancellation shall become effective on the date agreed or determined in accordance with the terms of the Policy and applicable insurance laws.

2. Cancellation by the Insurer

The Insurer may cancel or terminate the Policy only where permitted under the Policy and applicable law. Grounds may include:

  • Non-payment of an insurance premium;
  • Material misrepresentation or nondisclosure;
  • Fraud or attempted fraud;
  • A material change in the insured risk where cancellation is legally permitted;
  • Breach of a material Policy condition; or
  • Other circumstances expressly permitted by applicable law.

Where notice is legally required, the Insurer shall provide the Policyholder with written notice within the applicable notice period.

3. Premium Refund

Where the Policyholder is entitled to a refund following cancellation, the Insurer shall calculate the refundable premium in accordance with the Policy terms and applicable law.

Any premium attributable to coverage already provided, together with lawful taxes, charges or fees that are non-refundable, may be deducted where permitted.

The Insurer shall provide information regarding the amount and method of any applicable refund.

4. Outstanding Claims

Cancellation shall not automatically invalidate a legitimate claim arising from an insured event that occurred while the Policy was valid and in force.

Such claims shall continue to be assessed according to the Policy terms, coverage limits, exclusions and applicable law.

5. Effect of Cancellation

Once cancellation becomes effective, insurance coverage shall cease from the effective cancellation date. The Insurer shall not be responsible for events occurring after coverage has ended, except where otherwise required by law.

6. Confirmation of Cancellation

Upon completion of the cancellation process, the Insurer shall provide written confirmation showing, where applicable:

  • Policy number;
  • Effective cancellation date;
  • Status of coverage;
  • Any outstanding balance; and
  • Any premium refund due.

7. Regulatory Requirements

All cancellations shall be administered in accordance with the insurance laws and regulatory requirements applicable to the Insurer and the Policy.
